Finding the highest quality cheap folding beds online is a simple process of browsing websites and making notes of what you want and what price you are willing to pay.  Because many online retailers these days offer folding beds and most other product free of shipping costs, don’t be scared to compare online prices with those of the big box stores like Target or WalMart.  Because most online bed stores don’t have huge location overhead they can often beat the best price you will find in your local town.  In addition, to make sure you get the best priced folding bed look for special promotion or coupon codes for the site you plan on buying from.

With more and more people moving into larger urban areas the average size of living spaces is shrinking.  This is especially true in cities like New York, Boston and Minneapolis.  Because of this shrinking home size epidemic more and more beds are being sold that can fold away or convert into another functional unit during non-sleeping times.  Enter the renaissance of the folding bed into the American lifestyle!

Back in the 1940’s and into the early sixties many people were familiar with the kind of sleeping unit called a “Murphy bed”, which would fold ninety degrees and disappear into a wall after waking up.  These early folding beds were very common in upscale hotels and long-term apartment rentals because of the space saving options they provided.

Today there are several different occasions in which folding beds are used including kids folding beds.  For many children who are forced to share a room finding extra space and distance from each other can be really tough, especially if there are two or even three single size beds in a small room.  Today’s kids folding beds often actually fold into the wall of a bedroom allowing for a more open floor space for playing or just relaxing.  There are also folding bunk beds that will literally just collapse ninety-degrees and rest against the wall with very little effort.  While many furniture stores don’t carry all these kinds of specialty items in their stores, you can find them by browsing bed stores online.

Another popular bed model these days is the folding guest bed which can be a perfect answer to hosting overnight guests, but not dedicating an entire room to this purpose.  Many times couples or families will have a den that can also become a guest room with the simple rolling out, and setting up of a folding bed.  Many times these models use memory foam mattresses and provide a very comfortable sleeping experience.  After a guest leaves the home owner simply folds the bed back up and stores it, many times in an area as small as a coat closet.

For use when camping or in emergency situations, several online sites carry portable folding beds for very reasonable prices.  These beds are much more pleasant than basic cots, but are still lightweight and can be easily moved from location to location.  The best models will stack on top of each other, much like folding chairs, and do not weigh too much for one person to carry easily.  Often churches will have several folding beds to use for overnight youth gatherings or mission trips to another area where hotel costs are prohibitive.
